I am going to be moving to the Asheville area in the near future (not sure of an exact date yet) and I have a couple rules questions I'd like clarified before I move out there. I have checked the rule book for these answers, but haven't found the answers I need (doesn't mean they're not there). My first question, what is allowed for ranged combat? what kind of poundage on bows, and what kind of arrows? Also what's allowed as far as guns go (I saw guns mentioned somewhere).
My next question is how exactly does unarmed combat work? I'm fairly interested in the monk class (Possibly a feran, but nothing definite yet).

My first question, what is allowed for ranged combat? Bows, thrown weapons and guns are the ranged weapons for the game. I would prefer that players not use compound bows, and professionally made boffer arrows over home-made. Longbows/short bows can be pulled to safe pound weight determined by the shot, which at a larp should max around 25-30 lbs, and that's at significant range. Home-made boffer arrows need to be individually inspected and must be extremely safe. In addition, for the sake of safety, a player must be plot-approved to use boffer arrows in combat. Until such approval, they may use spell packets while holding the bow to deal damage. Currently most Nerf Guns are allowed. Other phys-reps will be approved on a case by case basis. Claw boffers (same size as daggers) are used to phys rep hands in unarmed combat.

Cool. Two more questions: How common are bows, and if I wanted to offer items for sell, what would be the place to do so?

So far we don't have any archers. We're still a relatively small game. I don't mind you posting a link to some stuff you'd be interested in selling either here or on the facebook group, so long as it stays tasteful.

Also, are foam dars the only allowed ammunition for guns? I was looking at those guns that shoot biodegradable water balls. Xploderz, I think they're called. All the guns I've seen have ammo capacities in the hundreds, which I know would be too many, but I was looking for something that held a legal amount.

I've seen those Xploders in stores but haven't seen one in operation, so I couldn't be sure it would be ok for use in the game.
Some of the Nerf guns use foam disks, and those are generally approved.
As far as ammunition, guns can hold as much as you like, but ammo is a tagged item, so you can only shoot as many as you make and have tags for.

When I make it out that way, I can pick one of the guns up and get it checked out, or if you happen to try one out on your own, let me know how it goes.
