The spells Ward and Guardian allow the target to take half damage from all effects until a certain amount of damage has been absorbed (30 for Ward, 100 for Guardian). This damage is absorbed after DR in the case of physical damage. In the case that the damage amount is an odd number, the amount absorbed is equal to half rounded down, and the half taken is equal to half, rounded up.
In the situation where a person is only taking one point of damage after DR, half of one rounded down is 0, and half of one rounded up is 1. Unless the character is taking 2 or more damage from a hit, the Ward or Guardian will absorb no damage.
