On the world of Aldejor, in the Kingdom of Antillan, the growing township of Hevard Port is the site of a grueling battle between humanoids and goblinoids. Leading the efforts on the Human side is the battle hardened Lord Gaverek. After multiple victories in the Red Sands War, King Mennis I personally bestowed the Lord’s noble title, and lauded Gaverek as the empire’s greatest war hero.
Lord Gaverek was granted the fee of Hevard Port as reward for his military service under the condition that he defeat the goblinoid offensive threatening the fishing village. Hevard Port is located on the northern coast of Gaesten Isle, a peninsula separated from the mainland by a large mountain lake and the two rivers that flow from it into the Long Sea. Expansion into the Gaesten Isle will open a myriad of strategic resources and tactical positions in the area.
The Goblin War is in constant flux between favoring the Antillan Empire and the death progenitor, Toth, leader of the goblin forces. Now that the leader of the offensive has made himself known, there is a dire race to learn his weakness. The elven sorcerer Aelorn works tirelessly in researching the mystery of how a mythical creature like Toth could have made it to our plane, and what does it have to do with the cursed Statue of Buru that has killed any who’ve come to possess it.
Lord Gaverek has put out a call to all able bodied mercenaries and adventurers, to join the militia and seek fortune and fame in the defense of the Empire. Many have answered the call, including powerful allies sent by the king, and personal friends of Lord Gaverek. You have answered this call, and whether you consider yourself a soldier in the militia, or a mercenary on his own mission, Hevard Port has conscripted you into its service.
While the King is human, the populace and nobility are cosmopolitan, ranging from dwarf to elf to orc, and many races in-between. Aside from priests and the especially devout, gods are worshipped opportunistically, the god of ambition when starting a business, the goddess of truth when researching lore, the god of tactics when entering battle. Magic is commonplace, though the practitioners are only a small percentage of the populace. Almost every adult has been healed by magic at least once, and most have seen other simple displays of arcane and divine spellcasting.
